Defining & Adjusting Grade Weights

As an instructor, you do have the ability to adjust the preset category weights by group in XED.

Note: Currently, you do not have the ability to globally adjust your category weights. This must be done individually for each group.

Step 1: On the left navigation menu, click Group Management.

Group Management button highlighted in purple on the XED platform's sidebar menu, with an arrow pointing to it. Other menu items include Dashboard, Reports, Import Users, and Resources.

Step 2: Locate the group you intend to adjust the weights for and click EDIT.

Active Groups tab selected in XED, displaying a group card for "1st Period." The card shows the group key (blurred), learner count (5), and end date (June 1, 2024). A purple highlight and arrow point to the "EDIT" button. Group progress is shown as 0%.

Step 3: Ensure the Weight tab is selected.

The "Weight" tab is highlighted in purple with an arrow pointing to it. The interface allows users to adjust grading weights using plus and minus buttons for categories like Benchmark, Learn Task, Practice Exercises, and Practice Questions.

Step 4: Review the default settings. They are configured to add up to 100%. Use the + and  signs to adjust the weights for each category. You cannot use the + sign initially because XED will not allow you to go over 100%. You may use the – sign to lower the weight of one category, then use the + sign to increase the weight of another category. Adjust the percentages to meet the unique needs of your course.

The minus and plus buttons for adjusting the weight of "Practice Exercises" are highlighted in purple. The current weight is set at 15%.

Note: You will be notified if your percentages do not add up to 100%. You may not save your changes unless the sum of percentages is equal to 100%.

A red error message stating that the sum of percentages must be 100% to save changes. It instructs the user to apply the remaining percentage to the evaluation concepts.

Step 5: Click Save Changes. Users will be able to see the category weights in the score reports.
